Tilly first became interested in the idea of system-change when she was working for a refugee charity in Dunkirk. Working on the ground trying to deal with the immediacy of the emergency situations made her curious about long-term solutions. Mass displacement is projected to be in the billions by 2050. How do we solve that?
She then completed a Masters in Global Environmental Change & Policy at Imperial, which gave a great grounding but was still relatively technical and apolitical. Feeling like she still didn’t really understand what ‘system-change’ would need to be, or how we could enact it, she embarked on a research project which spanned two years.
